caveman - how do you like the Serama? The Bad thing about them, they are like silkies, no immunity to anything.:hit

My friend Arline who has had house chickens for over 30 years - not the same ones of course.
had 2 serama mature hens and one mature silkie hen. Only the silky was allowed in the back yard because it didn't fly. The seramas were good flyers. Apparently the silkie brought in "Mareks," to the seramas. - All of the birds died a day apart. Arline hasn't gotten any new birds since.

That's so sad!

I went out for the umpteenth time to check on the chickens and discovered that one of my Welsummer girls managed to get into the confinement pen with Spazzy...where there's a will there's a way...lol She was acting a bit stressed, moving back and forth and panting, so I managed to shoo her out and she headed straight into the coop and into a nesting box...she was ready to lay and was afraid she wouldn't make it to the nest on time...lol I also decided to let Spazzy out, if she heads back to the nesting box...back to confinement she will go...so far so good!

All good. I'm pretty bullet proof. :) Most living things want to go on living so I sometimes find the jokes difficult even though realistically...what do you do with all those roosters?

I'm glad the Spazzy space seems to be working. :)

Yeah...I joke about it, but it is a sad reality that some will serve the purpose of providing sustenance!

So far she hasn't gone back to the nest...that is however subject to change! :)
