I got 7 today .... and it looks as though Claudine has started laying.... I have two that are identical.. smallish and blue! I know Clementine cannot lay two eggs in one day so it must me Claud! The two blue ones on the end are theirs❤...View attachment 2410529

They are glorious. I am so very happy for you. I can only imagine the joy you are feeling with another blue layer.

I have some winter layers but everyone gets a break when they moult. I think they deserve one!

I agree! Their bodies were designed to self regulate how long they lay! So no extra light for my girls either...the will quit when their body says to and start up when it's ready to produce again. I am surprised that some of my girls are still laying, but not too concerned!

I think keeping things all natural will keep my hens healthier and hopefully they will live longer and be happy.

Wer will buy cage free from local farm. They cost a dollar more but I know the conditions. It's not perfect but I can live with that.

I am fortunate enough to already be able to buy eggs from a local farm. I became friends with the woman and her girls free range every day. She is also someone I can call with questions when I have issues. She is the one who referred two avian veterinarians to me.
And my neighbor gives me duck eggs. (My ducks aren’t great layers, especially past summer).
