Our Mixed Flock Journey!

We are taking a break from the remodel today and working in the yard. I'm wearing a sweatshirt, capri's and flip flops! It's a beautiful day! ☀️☀️☀️

Ryleigh was out and about for a bit this morning, but she is back in the nesting box. She's still limping quite badly, but hopefully improving. I'm glad I didn't have to set her up in a hospital cage, this way she is still with the flock and they seem to be leaving her alone when she comes out!

I was only able to speak with my mom for a few minutes today...she had a rough night with nausea from her pain medicine! :( I'm waiting to hear from my sister after she gets to the hospital to get a better update on what's going on.

That broody girl...lol! She will be fine...this is what she's made for, even if she doesn't have a rooster! :)

Thank you! :hugs All things considered she's doing pretty well! We just found out she's going back to the rehab center she was in for her first 2 hip surgeries, she's happy about that as they have been really good to her during her previous stays. They are already working with her to start using a walker...I don't quite know how that works when you don't have a hip. My sister is supposed to get some more information tomorrow on how they are stabilizing the leg. It's hard being so far away and I wouldn't even be able to see her if I went down there. She struggles with remembering things, so it's hard to find out anything from her...she just doesn't know! She is in God's hands and I'm thankful for that!
A friend of mine's father lived for decades without a hip for the same reason as your mother. Mysteriously it seemed to work. I think muscle stabilizes the joint. He used a cane I believe but could walk. Hope that helps a bit with the uncertainty.

Thank you RC, that definitely helps...it's just so strange to think that you can walk without your hip joint! 💗

I know. I remember thinking the same but it definitely worked. I mean he was an old man so he wasn't running marathons or anything but he was living a good life.

I would think that they would have to do something to stabilize it until the muscles are strong enough to hold it in place. I'm now encouraged to think that if she gets to the point where she can get around with a walker, then we might not opt for her to have another surgery to put in a new implant. She's been through so much trauma in just the last year and a half! Thank you for the encouragement! 💞

Today was a very good and busy day! We turned on the water and cleaned up the lawn! It was so lovely I told hubs we should open the pool...I was joking though, we still have some chilly nights ahead, but I'm ready.

I was out checking on my girl and I brought her a scrambled egg, she totally scarfed that down...so her still having a good appetite is a good sign. I did notice that she was not very clean, so I checked her vent and it looks okay. Tomorrow promises to be as beautiful as today, so I'm going to bring her in and get her cleaned up, I hope she will enjoy a warm bath.

I spoke with my mom for a few minutes...it seems like every time I call she's getting ready to eat or there is a nurse with her, so I'm waiting for her to call me back. She did sound better and said that her stomach has settled down and she was ready to eat...that's a big relief! 💗

I caught up somewhat... I was sorry to hear about your mom.. glad she will be well taken care of with you! My mother lives with us... her house is on my property.. she also broke her hip.. it’ll be three years on this Mother’s Day.. she was back in her house and on her own after five months... and it’s as though nothing has happened to her! She is one tough, tiny lady! Here she is... these are my boys.. yes, taller than her on their knees 😄 This is well before her fall... she is probably shorter now!

She's adorable...how tall is she? My mom is about 4'8" now! This is such an amazing picture, I bet she loves her tall grandsons. I'm glad to hear that she fully recovered, that is truly a blessing! :love
