Mine are blue (and small eggs). I know there are different kinds - @BY Bob was wondering about a white one previously, and I don't think they all lay blue eggs.

The Frost Legbar. It looks like @N F C is correct. They only lay blue eggs with the occasional green one sneaking in.

I have it written down! But that is not the same as keeping it in my head.
I was feeling pretty proud of myself that when I read the world I recognized it as my kind of chicken.
Seems I will have to try harder to satisfy you.

It's OK. I will remember for you. It doesn't help that I am obsessed by your ladies. I know what they are as I want some!

I'm sorry to hear that. Many people say that about leghorns as well. It just hasn't been my experience. How big is your flock?

That picture is a and a at the same time. I am sure you would have put it down on solid ground or table had she asked, but no, she has to jump up there and get right in. Adorable.

She flew right to it. They are really good flyers just like your legbars. I was picking it up to put it on the ground for them but she would not wait.

She was always hopping up or flying into my lap to check out what was going on.

Good morning Debby! What breed are your other hens? Are they friendlier than your Legbars?

I don't really know because I have only ever had the ladies I have now (plus Scary RIP) so I don't know how to compare.
They certainly fly a lot and are always in rapid motion until they nap when the fluff up like big balls and bury their heads in the fluff. They definitely run around faster than the others but that may be because they have to do so in order to avoid being pecked by everyone else.
They aren't very cuddly but none of mine are really cuddly, and I can grab them if I need to pick them up to examine them.
They are friendly and are always under my feet when I am in the Chicken Palace.
They are much less assertive and in my face than Maggie is (she is a loud-mouthed RIR) but one of them has a thing about my ankles she pecks me on the ankle all the time.
So I don't know if that adds up to flighty. They are completely adorable and I wouldn't have them any other way!

Good morning RC! I knew that they had a lot of personality from your other posts. Hearing about how much they fly concerns me. I'm now a little worried about being able to keep them contained...for their own safety. It really stresses me when my hens get out of the pen, there are a lot of dogs around here that are allowed to freely roam.

I can't wait to watch more legbars grow up! They seem to be wonderful chickens.

They're beautiful & it sounds like they will be keeping me on my toes. The best flying hens we ever had were the Black Tailed Japanese...they loved to roost in the trees!

If I could fly I would do the same I think. It looks fun.

I've dreamed that I could fly...it is fun! Then I wake up and find that I'm still earthbound...sigh! Lol

She's beautiful! I would love one of these too! There are so many breeds I would love to have...I just wish my coop was bigger...I can only stretch my chicken math so far! I only wanted 1 rooster...those boys take up a lot of space. I'm going to have a hard time letting Marquis go, I will miss him, but he'll be happy! I wish I could find a home for one of my Orpington roos...I just can't cull any of them, so I will continue to have too many roosters...sigh!
