I never shared here that I got chicks. I had them outside last night and they were using a real roost.

They are Candy Corn Polish. I am hoping they will be friends with Phyllis.

Hi RC! Thank you!!! I thought the ducks were so cute...I took way too many photo's of duck butts...lol! It was so nice of my brother in law to show me how to take those water pictures...he spent quite a bit of time showing me stuff and giving me tips! I'm glad that you're enjoying them!

We do the same thing by setting the brooder up on a table. With a crib being up off the ground, much like the table provides, the chicks can see you coming. We think it helps them to be less stressed since some of their natural predators come from above. In that vein, we use a clear brooder box so they can see us coming and watch us move about during the day. Great idea with the crib!

Thank you Kat! I have some pictures of one eating a crawfish. I was disappointed as they are a bit blurry. It was a fun catch though.

Hi & welcome! Thank you, the crib worked out really well. I might try to raise it up higher...if I raise more chicks again. It definitely is less stressful for them.

Saturday 9-11, I had flag at Half Mast. Some of the people passing realized the significance, did comment. Took down at sunset. In previous years when I had white dove pigeons, I had grandchildren do a release at the base of the flag. I explained to them meaning of a white dove release.
