Our New Coop

Great job. And your reuse of material is so cool.

Thanks to everyone for the tips. chicks will be here first week in april ( 4 RIR, 4 Barred Rocks)

I love the front door and the colors; it makes me think country!

It looks like a whole new coop! Great job!

The chicks will be here in 10 days, i'm hoping that a 3x5 coop with a 8x16 covered run will be large enough for them. From the posts that I've been reading here it may bit a small for 8 hens.

Awesome rehab job! We're starting from scratch on a 4'X4' coop, but we're only putting 4-5 birds in. I have to agree with a previous poster that you may be crowding the standard breeds a bit with 8. I'm using a single roost with a poop board to maximize floor space. See what happens, with any luck, all your babies will make it to egg-laying age, and you'll have to expand (LOL!) Great looking coop!

I'm thinking that the run might have to be a bit more weatherproof than was planned to provide some more shelter

Pretty coop...I have a 4 x 6 coop and this winter it contained 5 full size chickens and 4 bantams...they got a little bored at the end. Do the triangular "windows" have windows as they look as if they are only screened?

They do have hardware cloth covering them. I am planning to devise some sort of flap to cover them during cold weather.

Thats really nice. I like how you made the nest boxes hang over so you don't have to go in to get the eggs.
