Our peacock is sick, I think it's something wrong with the crop? Like with chickens ...

Hi everyone,
so let's see...

It starts with Ronalda touching. That was our first baby hatched by a Chicken hen.

Then we have Robi (actually Robert), her husband in the peafowl coop. This is his dance...(Raphael in the foreground, no, there are no problems between our three cats and the peafowls)

Then the siblings Hansel and Gretel... These were the chicks that were hatched by a Chicken hen too.

Then our adopted girl with the old injury. We call her Vonny...
Robi and Vonny make love together.

At first, we were surprised that Robi always looks the wrong way to dance. He shows his butt, lol. But no, as we've observed, it's done so that the girl can touch the soft feathers under his tail and maybe even smell them.We think she's doing that. Then she quickly runs forward in front of the man and ducks down for this act...

All together, there sleep in peafowl house, all five of them together, under normal conditions.

Sometimes 3 times a month, Robi doesn't want to stay in the peafowl house. He goes to this tree or to the roof of the house. Then he experiences bad wind there and is the first one in the peafowl house the next day. lol

Currently during mating season, they can't sleep together, so.
Robi alone in our house or both of the siblings. The siblings have been sleeping there for four months when they grew up, they know the place, and it looks so at night...

The problem is Robi and the young boy Hansel, but Hansel he can't be without his sister. So they always have to stay together.
We really hope it will be over by February and Robi can take care of his own children.

(Our other two Cats; Flecky and Panter are females.)

That should be it, I hope it was a little interesting for you.
See you at next post... :frow

Ronalda Update! :frow

Hello everyone,
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

So, if you've been following the story a bit, you know who Ronalda is. She's now 2 years old. With her husband Robi, our wish for babies wasn't fulfilled. At 2 years old, Ronalda had no sexual activity. lol
She tried to hide after Robi danced with her. She screamed and ran away. But she had to lay eggs, three of them in 3 days, one after the other, and then she immediately wanted to sit on them. Not even wait 10 days...

But this time we had eggs from Vonny. Robi and Vonny make love together. But it took her a long time to sit on them. She laid the first eggs from the beginning of November until December. Now she's still incubating, but should be finished in 3-4 days.

So, back to Ronalda; we gave her five eggs from Vonny.
With one egg, we observed something special. She opened it and drank a little bit, enough to take the egg in her beak and fly out of the nest. Cleaning it? That was very noteworthy.
We don't know what was wrong with that egg, but perhaps she damaged it a little while rolling it.

We left the other four for another week and then, upon checking them, discovered that two eggs were unfertilized, so we removed them. Now there were only two eggs, but Ronalda did a good job with them. It was successful.

We also observed that these birds give help with the hatching. Yes, after the first hole in the egg, you can hear the pushing sound. We were able to observe Ronalda helping to open the egg, and then she rolled the baby out and pushed the eggshell to the side?

Wow, I've never seen birds do that before, and I've never been able to observe it so closely.

Okay, we were only able to observe it so well because Ronalda chose the spot on my desk next to the computer monitor to incubate the eggs.
You can see a label on the eggs; that's the date they were laid.
In this case, the little ones are from November 12th and 15th. The one on the 15th rolled out of the egg 20 minutes before noon.

I was able to pet Ronalda while she was incubating, but not too close to her belly near the eggs. She tried to bite me a little. lol But after the eggs hatched, I can touch and play with the babies, everything's fine with Ronalda.

I'm always so impressed by the huge difference compared to the mother bird. And in just 6 months it will look exactly the same...

So, until next time... :thumbsup
