So we have been hanging out for our 27 week old welsummer to start laying (it is mid-winter here so we weren't too worried) and finally today, after A LOT of fuss she finally laid! The weirdest part... her egg is completely white. I'm quite confused. She looks like a purebred and came from a guy who only keeps welsummers. I've attached a photo (sorry about the quality) if anyone think she may not be a welsummer. Obviously she is the one on the left, the one on the right being my sweet little pekin bantam. Any ideas the egg might be white?
Also, the egg had some blood on it. Is this usual for a first timer? Just want to make sure she's not hurt or anything that might need taking care of. All my other ladies (a polish, a silkie and a pekin bantam and an unknown blonde
) came to me at about 2 years old so they were already seasoned layers!
