Actually, that stuff is probably better for chickens than it is for parrots. Seed-based diets are terrible for parrots, the first one I owned died of liver failure at 14 because she'd been fed nothing but seed her whole life.

It's always a pain when you can't get to the feed supplier for whatever reason and then you run out...we just had to buy a bale of alfalfa hay from the feedstore at twice the price we normally pay because our hay deliverer had a family emergency and couldn't get to us until a week late. Once our goats had to get grained with chicken scratch for a while because the feed store ran out of sweet feed!

I can't imagine that would be bad for them.

If I run out of feed for a day it's called "clean out the fridge" day.

I just had clean out the fridge day. That stuff was too scary for the dog to eat!
I had to put it in the garbage! Almost NEVER does eatable/compostable type stuff go in the trash can, but it was that bad!

Obviously, I've been neglecting kitchen duty, because the fridge used to be a barren wasteland (read: empty! & clean!) every night-before payday.

Ouch! That's about what I pay for a 50lb bag of chicken feed. I think I would have been inclined to make them a bowl of oatmeal and throw in a few leftovers from the fridge to get them through the few hours until I could make it back to the feed store. It may not provide the ultimate in nutrition but one day of lower nutritional intake is not going to hurt them (especially if ordinarily they are getting good quality feed).
