Hi, I have a dog who is so sweet and I love him, but when other people come to our house, he will sometimes try to show off by chasing our chickens. I don't believe he has ever hurt them badly, except for one time I think a chicken might have broken her leg running from him, we're not sure if it was him, but she's ok now. I don't think he's aggressive, he just wants to play and doesn't get that my chickens can't play with him. I was just wondering if anybody knew of a way to get him to leave them alone.

Hmmmmm, that is what my dad's dog does, he chases the chickens around and kinda scares them, sometimes he will pretend to bite them but he never does harm. My dad isn't super passionate about chickens, he just has them for the eggs, so he doesn't worry. The chickens learn to leave the dog alone, and they don't get hurt. But of course, it is different with every dog, and I wouldn't want your chickens to get hurt.

He knows commands, but he doesn't really listen.... ever😅
If you yell at him to stop though, he will. I just get worried for when I"m not around.
I would put him on a leash near the chickens giving him treats and attention until he doesn't carol if you have a super bossy hen just let her teach him a little lesson. Worked for me!

Hmm, how about a check chain, and a light line? Pet him, and hook the lite line, a very light piece of string he won't know is there, and attach it to the collar. When he goes after the hens, ask him ONCE to stop, if he doesn't jerk on the lite line, and it will check the collar, which produces a sound from the chain that you can use for correction. Have you ever used a check chain, or improperly pronounced choke chain before?

No, I haven't. The thing is, 90% of the time, He doesn't ever care that they are there. his attacks happen extremely infrequently honestly, it's quite odd

I have never heard of such a thing but it sounds like it might work... you could go ahead and give it a try chickenlover007
