Hi all, I survived 1 week being a new mamá. Heart break stuck early as we lost 1 chick our of 6, buff Orpingtons.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Gotta love that chicken math....we (I, too be fair to my husband) started out saying I only need 2, well hubby agreed to 4 but....no know the chicken math thing. We ended up with 6, 1 died, today I pick up 3 silkies... so 8 all together.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orpingtons and 3 bearded silkies.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? No sure yet.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening and painting (watercolors) .
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. So I'm a part time nurse. I have 1 large 26 yr old chicken that really must find his own nest....(as my foot pulls back to swiftly kick him out of the nest and scream out...FLY DAMMIT!". We have to cats a retired husband and a awesome sense of humor, most days.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I read about this forum and was told by a girl at tractor supply how good ya'll were.
