Yep, its not ready yet. The peeping you heard either came from another egg, or from out a window?

Moisten the membrane with either coconut oil or Vaseline, just a light coating. From the candling pic on the first post, I would say it still had 3-4 days before hatching. Too much clear area between the membrane and the dark area.

So now its just a waiting game. I might even try to place a piece of saran wrap over the hole you made and tape it in place. Unless you can keep the membrane moist every few hours.

What day did you set all the eggs?

Omygosh thank you! I really hope this post helps other people too. I will try the Saran Wrap. And I will get some coconut oil to place over the babe. This is going to have to be a learning experience rather than a failure. Pick little guy. Okay time to get serious and attempt to fix this.

I wish I had seen the post sooner, I would have said definitely not ready to be opened.

With that incubator, you can actually candle the eggs without opening the lid. Before they internally pip, the air cell will "draw down" and get out of shape, as the baby gets into hatching position.
First pic is one day before the second pic. Draw down is when you know they are getting close.

Thank you for this! The photos and your experience help a lot.

So just so I understand what I am looking at. The first photo is the draw-down and the second photo is the internal pip?

The first is just normal, what the air cell looks like most of the incubation time - bigger each day, but same basic shape. Second one is drawn down, just prior to internal pip.

And in now way shape or form do I place blame on anyone for my making this decision. I look at this as a scientific learning experience that I will attempt to never do again. But in the instance that this does happen. Random fertile egg. Unknown age. Egg opening to find out it wasn’t ready. Etc.

This is what I did. Also gloves are potentially sanitary. I sanitized my scissors before I cut it and I cut it wide close enough to the hand of the glove to provide a large enough opening. Even though it was a tiny little egg. I then Let it become gentle stretched enough to hold on but not enough to strain the egg. I did not use tape. I did not use any antiseptic or mouthwash. I did not cover the whole egg.
