Oxine as effective disinfectant?

I. Love. Oxine.
Been using it for 2+ years and follow the oroginal article she posted for ideas on how else to use it. Currently, I do NOT activate it, and it only smells like bleach when left in the sun. I mix is like I'm using bleach, so very little goes a long way. I spray in coops, I add to water for bacterial control of the waterer as well as to help keep down gut issues. I find less cases of coccidiosis and have iraticated love from older coops. When disinfecting I also empoly the sun to help air dry and further assist with disinfecting.
Some laugh at it, others swear by it...I'm the later. Good luck, Cyprus!

Something I found out: Chlorine dioxide is rapidly degraded by UV rays (That's likely why it smells like bleach--because the chemical activity is being rapidly released), so after applying Oxine it will be most effective if the area where you have applied it is as protected from sunlight as possible until it dries. Spraying at night can be a good option. Though I hear sunlight is indeed a good disinfectant in most circumstances & that's a smart technique to integrate!
Oxine should also be kept in non-transparent spray bottles, stored away from of sunlight.

Oxine has been approved for use as a disinfectant against COVID-19, and officially placed on the EPA's "List N."

I've been diving deep into studying Chlorine Dioxide since the pandemic got going, since it has so much niche usefulness for the unique challenges of the COVID-19 crisis. And it is super-cheap. ($1.35/gallon for full-strength 500 ppm activated, including the activator and shipping!) However, Oxine can be pretty tricky to mix and dose correctly for small-scale uses, so I've been working on putting together guides for other people.

I've created an interactive calculator at poultrypedia.com/chlorine-dioxide-for-respiratory-sickness specifically for mixing Oxine.

Info I've collected is drawn from literally hundreds of research studies, EPA approvals, product manufacturer materials, etc (Did I mention my OCD, lol?) Some of the info is posted at CoronavirusAirMist.com and CoronavirusCD.org, and you can find a lot of reference info on Oxine applications there.
