Inside on plywood walls, I will use exterior semi gloss paint. (Is indoor/outdoor latex okay?). Is there a color to avoid - a color which chickens do not like? I'm thinking of white or light yellow or light blue due to darkness in winter.

"This year, turquoise is THE must-have color in the coop. Artistically-inclined chickens will accent it with shell pink and ivory accents -- large geometric figures are hot, now -- while more traditional hens complement it with navy blue and pearl grey. White and black are totally Last Year, don't expect the rooster to look at you twice if you've still got those dowdy old colors hanging around. The avante-garde may choose to experiment with pale yellow and electric green, two surprising colors seen in some of the most cutting-edge henhouses this year."

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I honestly do not think it matters

Chickens absolutely HATE the color orange! Whatever you do, avoid it at all costs, you'll never get an egg!

Okay, just kidding.

I don't think chickens care. Yes exterior latex will clean up best, or interior gloss. You are very thoughtful regarding your chooks and their needs. When I die I wouldn't mind coming back as one of your girls! Thanks for letting me pick on you!

Nest curtains? Can you post a picture of that?
Sure, here's the pics. First 2 were before they started laying…fake eggs in nest. I just cut slits up a leg off an old pair of jeans and stapled it above the nests. 3rd is recent photo, 2 of my gals helping me on coop cleaning day. I stapled a velcro strip to the board over their nests and sewed the other loop strip to the jeans for easy changes. Much easier to replace with new curtains when they get soiled. Oh, and the colors in coop are Croissant on the walls and Palm Green in the nests. Croissant has worked out well, the few splatters that do land on the inside of the walls barely shows up don't ya think?

Put out some paint samples and see which one they like the best. If they peck it a lot they are likely to eat the paint off the wall,, if they don't touch it,, then they won't eat it.

I have wallpaper and paint in mine and I get an egg a day from each one of them...ROFL...Paint it a color that you enjoy being around and I am sure they will love it!
