Paper feed bags or bulk feed?

Thank you for the suggestion of Scratch and Peck. I'm in Oregon and this is a Washington product, so I'm hopeful I get find someone here that can bring it in. I've also tried sending an email inquiry to a local feed mill, but the feed stores I've been to in town mainly have prepacked grain in woven plastic bags.
TSC will be only too happy to sell you their brand of feed in 50 lb paper bags all day long.

Managing dampness is a big issue with feed, so all paper leads to more spoilage/ mold, not a good thing. It's all about trade-offs between better storage and freshness, and hoping to avoid plastic.

Some companies bag in paper so you'll have to call around to see who does and if it available to you locally.
Buying in bulk is much cheaper but you have to have enough chickens to eat a ton of feed in short order.

This is a very pressing issue.Unfortunately, the food my dogs eat only comes in plastic bags and the manufacturers make no effort to avoid using plastic.

I think shipping in a paper bag can go smoothly if you handle the shipment carefully. No production can do without waste, but if you can minimize its amount, do everything that depends on you. My wife and I take care of all the affairs of our poultry house ourselves. I was very annoyed by the cost of garbage collection services from our territory. It's wrong when you have more waste than manufactured products. And if the payment for these services takes the lion's share of the budget, it becomes quite a shame. Our feed supplier is now transitioning to Biodegradable Packaging Materials. I'm sure that it will give a big plus to both his earnings and our income.

So there are now companies that supply food and food, not in plastic bags but natural paper ones. You need to look for other brands on the market, and I think you will find what you need. I know a few such companies because we buy Kraft Stand Up Bags from this site -- www.interplas.com, along with many other companies that care about consumer health. Although many manufacturers believe that the health of the consumer or the animals the feed is supplied is not important, I can't entirely agree with this. I work as a coffee supplier and use only paper bags for transportation.
