Parrot Hatching Eggs?

I am afraid to buy from a classified. I was hoping to find a breeder website, but haven't yet. Atleast now I don't think this idea is completely insane.

Nanday Conure here. She was barely feathered when we got her. She's
an evil and loud bird but does love her owner (me). She bites my wife (love that).

We are gonna try hatching some in our Octagon 40 eventually. If anyone
finds a reasonable egg source please post it.

Hate to burst your bubbles folks but parrot eggs do not do well in shipping, especially the larger species. They do not stand up to being stored like a chicken egg and the membranes are very fragile. They have a very tight range of temperatures before they are not viable. Odds are very slim on shipping parrot eggs. And then there is the feeding by hand every two hours around the clock after they hatch. So I hope you have two people to feed or plan on getting no sleep.

How do I know this? 26 years of experience in the parrot community, 6 years of field experience in south america working reintroduction and population stabilization projects. Current 14 year director for PAC. Over 400 hand fed babies raised.

Best wishes to all that want to try it...but phew, you are all taking on quite a task. I hand raised Amazons for 9 years. Handfeeding is not for people that like sleep or have a job outside the home.

As kstaven mentioned feedings every two hours is a killer, going to town or leaving the house almost impossible. I did have a portable brooder that I could plug into the car and take them with me if there was an emergency and we all had to be somewhere. But temp. control on bappies is critical. Too hot or too cold and you have a baby that will have crop issues. Feeding formula also has to be within strick quidelines of temp.

I am amazed that anyone would even sell their parrot eggs. I would watch and hold my breath that my parrot would lay, I can't image taking their eggs from them.

Sounds like kstaven & verthandi have the experience here. With those
things in mind I think I'll take parrot hatching off my To-Do list.

We got our conure from a breeder. He had some very sophisticated
brooders at his place. Must have been very expensive too.
