lavender dose not efect black lavender is a black bird with 2 lavender genes
so these birds are blue partrdge and if u read the post she breed them therooster carries the partrdge gene

I had eggs that were marked black and eggs marked parti. I believe from the numbers that mine came from a black pen. Thanks for the genetics lesson. I am always trying to learn!!

Have 2 of the cutest little blacks with a little red undercolor. I paid $50 for one of the from Premier and the other was from my last hatch. Cutest little things in the world. Well the one for sure was a pullet and I really thought the other one was too. So I go to the Illini Poultry Club show and while I'm gone my DH calls and says "you know one of your little black ones is crowing it's head off"...... I'm thinking - yeah right, okay dear.
So I get home from the show and I am out in the barn and I let everyone out and I'm looking at all of the younger pullets and there goes this little black Silkie trying to crow it's fool head off. I'm thinking darn it I really wanted it to be a girl. It's so cute. So I see it trying to mount the young blue pullet I have so I grab it up and put it in a separate pen.
I keep it separate for a few weeks and then try to put it in with another redneck cockerel that I had and they got along fine. I gave my neighbor the little redneck and I'm stuck with this little black thing and I just love it cause it's cute as heck.
About 5 days ago, I feel sorry for it and decide to give it another try with the young pullets because it just seemed so lonely.
Next day there is an unexplained egg in the pullet pen. I figure it's probably my 1 broody that's in there. Today, I see the little black thing walk up squat and plop out an egg!!!!!!
Moral of the story...
I will say anything you want me to say!!!!! LOL. Have a great day everyone!!

I was commenting on my birds/lines, not the posters. This is an observation of what I have found in some of my birds. I have genetic "experts" on here, tell me that you only get Splash from a SplashX Splash breeding. But what they don't tell everyone, that the gens behind the birds can and will effect the outcome. I had a pair of Splashes that when bred together, 50% were white at hatch. The key here, was the birds were related, there for allowing the white to come through at hatch. Also in some of my birds that have the lavender gene in their background, when bred together will produce a blue, that appears partridge at hatch.
