Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

My use of the word may not be the same as others but, when I say my particular hen is too brassy, I mean she has a heavy gold appearance in color vrs. one with more black dark undertones. My use of the word may not be correct but, I just can't think of any other way to explain it, if ya know what I mean

Okay, so you are referring to the shade/tint of the gold, and/or perhaps the amount of gold?

I have to say I was Very proud to see me fluffy kids at the NEPC show. They all did me proud, congrats Sue & Beth with the girls!

Hi, I was proud to say my partridge pullet won bov, and she is from April! I also had a great time picking her brain, now if I can only find a partridge male to go with her.....hiint hint....
I'm very new to Silkies & need to get all the info I can get, when I can get it from the experts !

Yes the amount of gold was a bit much on her in my opinion

I was a bit shocked that she did as well as she did. I know she has nice type but, I originally did not pick her b/c I thought her color was over the top with gold. I entered her last minute b/c after bathing my Partrige boy, he had a huge scratch on his comb. So, when I left I went through the pen and grabbed this gal b/c she was the cleanest in the bunch! I washed up her feet and put her in the box for travel. Boy was it a surprise when she did as well as she did! I'm proud of her that is for sure!

I knew the minute I saw her she was a Brody gal!!!

My two girls were right next to her and I thought that was cute how all three brody's were in a row!! lol

Did you get to see Brody's hen in the youth section? I don't know if she was your babies Momma like my two but, she was very nice and so full and round and drop dead gorgeous!

If I have a good hatch and you do not find one before I cull, I will help you with a boy if needed. I actually had to sell 4 partridge boys in November b/c I kept the two I needed. Well a week later I lost my favorite boy

I was sooo happy to Meet Gilda at the show and she allowed me to buy her and her husband's beautiful Cockrel. Now I'm back to two beautiful boys and I hope it lasts all year! Here is a picture of him, I'm sure you saw him and he definitely looks better in person.

She was shown as a Bearded Gray. Not sure of the definition in the ABA book for your answer I apologize. I bought her before the show b/c I saw her up for auction and wanted her b/c she was sooo full and typey I had to have her. Well I lost the auction and was bummed only to find out she was back up for sale a week after on here and jumped on it! Chelsea does a great job with her birds and as long as my husband says yes and we have the budget I would buy her birds over and over again!!! lol

Is silver partridge also considered grey or are they shown in the AOV class or??

gray is a silver partridge some countries call them silver partridge instead of gray i think she is very nicely marked gray

The standard does not differentiate between lighter or darker colouring of partridge. From the 2011 Bantam Standard, page 243:

"More attention should be given to the brightness and sharpness of the reddish bay ground color and the almost jet black penciling than whether the bird appears lighter or darker than an individual preference. The ideal is one uniform color over the entire body of the bird."

Thanks for the explanation I have read the SOP over while looking at my birds and still can't figure out what I am seeing
