Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I went back and looked at the drop downs for xtended black and dominant white, and you are right. Wildtype alleles (denoted by a +) are listed first. After that the E alleles are more or less listed in descending order of dominance after the e+ pairs: All the possibilities of E, then of E^R, then of E^Wh, then e+ then e^b, and each of the possibilities are also in descending order of dominance: E/E, E/E^R, E/E^Wh, E/e+, E/e^b. I don't know why dominant white is not also listed in order of dominance, which is I^S > I > I^D > i+. I know smokey has some weird dominance issues, but then so does wheaten. There are other genes with multiple alleles, but they (the extra alleles) are uncommon and not listed in the calculator.

Hi can any one tell me if you would consider thees colors partridge. thank you

The top one looks like a Blue Partridge, the bottom one is harder guess on. I have one like the top one that started out as almost all gray (blue) with a black head and slowly added the gold and red. He is a cross between a Blue and a Partridge, so I think Blue Partridge would be correct. I call him Donna-Don because I kept hoping he was a girl. Nope, he's a boy

The bottom one has some partridge markings, but it looks like a mix-up on the colors. Not really Gray, and not really Partridge. I think if its a girl it could be used in a Partridge breeding pen with a Partridge rooster.

I was thinking that the top one is a partridge, but the other one has me confused. there both look like there going to be hens. I have six of them and five look like the top one but the bottom one ? they came from breeding my white hen with a blue splash rooster, has anyone else had crazy colors show up in a breeding like that?

You will always get crazy colors when you breed a White to anything except another White. White needs two copies of recessive white to be white - once you loose one copy you see what is underneath, which appears to be Partridge and a mix-up. Your "blue splash" is just called Splash and carries two copies of Blue - so all the chicks will be Blue unless the White is also hiding Blue. Your Splash is also a Partridge carrier or all your chicks would have been Blue.

You might want to make a note on all the young ones that they carry recessive white if you are going to breed with them or sell them. Bred to a White you get a 50% chance of White chicks.

Oh, and

Thank you . I'm new to breeding silkies so I'm still learning about what colors should go with what . I have a blue and a black hen would they go good with my splash rooster? I guess I'll have to get a white rooster for my white hens if I want more white silkies.

Black/Blue/Splash is an accepted color breeding pen. Here is a neat chart that shows the genetics for blue.

You are right, you will need a White boy for your White hen to get White chicks.

The Partridge ones can be used in a Partridge pen, but Partridge is a hard color to get right, so you might want to use those for pets/egg layers instead. You are very lucky to have so many girls - I had 5 boys and 5 girls last batch. I had no trouble selling my mixed color girls, but a bit harder to sell the boys (I still have two).
