Join the club. Its called "chicken math." It looks like you have a very good start, B/B/S, White and Partridge. All you need now is .. Buff, Red, Porcelain, Calico, Self Blue (Lavender) and.. well - you get the idea.

I was good - I decided I only wanted Blue Partridge. So that's why I "only" have Buff, Blue and Partridge!

When I first started I was only going to do B/B/S , then I got a white from a friend and I have my mix up blue partridge baby's that I was going to sell but I can't there just to cute. I'll just have to get a bigger coop.

This will be my first winter with silkies will I need a heat light in the coop for them. it's a good size coop it was a old wooden shed and I live in northern Michigan.

Silkies have some great insulation on them - those split feathers work well. As long as they have a draft free dry area with good ventilation they should do fine, I had some of mine playing in the snow one day, goofy birds. What you will want to avoid is cold drafts, excess moisture without ventilation and getting them soaking wet.

That's good I don't want them to get deponent on the heat and have the power go out in the middle of winter. How big should the ventilation be . I have a metal roof on the coop and there's like a 1 or 2 " space between the wall and the roof is that big enough for ventilation or should I make it bigger. and I use pine shavings on the floor is that good enough to keep them worm all winter . I don't want to use straw . I don't like how it smalls after a few day's. sorry for all the questions

That's ok - if you don't ask you won't know.

Pine shavings should be fine. If there is enough ventilation the bedding won't mold - if you get mold or mildew you need more ventilation. Check the corners regularly to make sure they stay mold free. The gap in the roof sounds good - is there hardware cloth wire over it to prevent predators from getting in?

I haven't seen any mold so far I guess the test will be come winter. I do have the hardware cloth wire over it and I have it over the windows so on hot nights I can have them open. so far I haven't had any problems with predators trying to get in. I'm glad I can use pine. I think the straw was the reason my rooster had broken feathers on his feet, they look so much better now that I use pine.
