Very cute - I love little chipmunk babies! Momma doesn't look happy though....
I like the black chick. But that isn`t a Partridge or?
Quote:Yeah, it is - except its a bit blacker than I would like to see. Brown is preferred... However, I do want to see what it comes out like - and if that is e^b based or a pattern gene over E^R... Oops, sorry - genetics.. forgive me?No, I think it is one of those little dark partridges that Dian wants to see all grown up. I usually have one per hatch. That is four different colors of partridge chick![]()

You only did two - and neither one of those looks genetically Partridge as babies or adults. The top one almost did - except its head was too light. It sure turned out dark. I wonder if there are genes in there that make it turn black.. and over-ride the brown from the Partridge Base. Or.. maybe its based on something else - still haven't ruled that out. The bottom one looks like a wild-type based Partridge that turned Black - but I was looking at that thread again and apparently Wheaten can look like a partridge chick too - with the right melanizers. Oh boy - I wish I had that chick chart!
So where are the pics of what the little dark ones (dark head too) grow up to be like? Huh?
That little black one almost looks "Quail"...

Thank you B.J.!Just Lovely!
OK let's see! Here's a shot of the one by the blue bucket above in the sunlight instead of shade.
This little baby in the foreground is the new Momma with her neck feathers ruffled out at me for taking babies pictures!
Sorry my lighting changes so much - some are taking inside the barn with a flash and some outside in the sunlight and shade.
