Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Sorry it's storming here and my electricity and internet is cutting off and on.

She is actually a little darker than that picture shows, and her head is more red (the angry momma). I know I posted a picture of her a few pages back and you put the little drooling smiley face on her. You don't know how good that makes me feel when you do that!

I will post more pictures inbetween power outages.

Wow, my friend just signed off too with thunder and lightning. Its beddy-bie time for me, but I will really look forward to drooling over your pictures tomorrow.

I had no clue you liked me drooling over your birds - I really like them! Of the Partridge ones I have seen on here - and the other Silkie Thread, I like yours and Sonoran Silkies the best.... how does THAT suit you?

Is this the one you are wanting to see????

This is the baby you specifically asked me to keep track of. That shared nest had 19 babies hatch. A skunk attack killed all of them but two. That little baby was killed.

This is another shot of the dark girl by the blue bucket.

You only did two - and neither one of those looks genetically Partridge as babies or adults. The top one almost did - except its head was too light. It sure turned out dark. I wonder if there are genes in there that make it turn black.. and over-ride the brown from the Partridge Base. Or.. maybe its based on something else - still haven't ruled that out. The bottom one looks like a wild-type based Partridge that turned Black - but I was looking at that thread again and apparently Wheaten can look like a partridge chick too - with the right melanizers. Oh boy - I wish I had that chick chart!

So where are the pics of what the little dark ones (dark head too) grow up to be like? Huh?

That little black one almost looks "Quail"...
melanizers can darken the down. quail as in the variety or the species?

I believe that is part of the Partridge pattern, so yes, I would.  My Partridge boys (Gold) have brown wing feathers.

Thank you.

And just to let you know that I just hatch A partridge vaby that comes from a partridge dad and a white mom...put pix soo. I am treating him for spreaded legs.

YES! He looks RIGHT! Ok, now I am trying to figure out how to get birds from Texas over here... hmmm...... its a LOOOONG drive!

I am sorry about the little one - would have really liked for no evil skunks to interfere with my scientific discoveries. Stupid Skunk!

Amazing difference lighting can make, huh? She looks really good there. Ok.. so

Quail Variety - from one of the chick pictures "over there".

I wonder if Cha can darken e^b chick down to look black. Her chicks look dark/black but end up with the Partridge barring and the black Cha helmet/bonnet.

I think I may have found a source for Mahogany for my project - do you think he carries it?

He may also carry Cha - but he has kept that patterning all over him, just as the juvenile PWB male did - until he got his adult feathers. He is about 4 months old in that picture, he is 5 months old now and starting to get his streamers and attitude.. silly boy!

I am sorry about the little one - would have really liked for no evil skunks to interfere with my scientific discoveries. Stupid Skunk! Yeah, I don't like talking about it. I puked for about two days. I couldn't figure out how he was getting in my "predator proof" barn. Anyway, found it, fixed it, and he got his in the end. I used to feel sorry for skunks, possums, and raccoons that were hit on the road because I love animals so much, but I don't anymore. I just say someones chickens have been spared.

Amazing difference lighting can make, huh? She looks really good there. Ok.. so

Yes, that is why I found other pictures. Sometimes it doesn't even look like the same chicken - but I promise it is. Now I think you are talking to Sonoran.

I have some close ups of feathering. I know you study that too. Do you want to see any of those? I know you can't see that beautiful pattern showing on your hens in the other thread, but sometimes you can see different colors on the feathers.
