Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I just had to cull my dark partridge silkie pullet yesterday after unsuccessfully treating her for wry neck for 7 1/2 weeks. She left me with one silver partridge chick. I really want another partridge silkie or two. Can anyone here help me find one?

Your birds are amazing. I have a white silkie hen. I want to get a rooster and a few more hens/pullets. I want to hatch silkies. Can you point me in the right direction for what colors to look for to create some beautiful babies?

Thankyou! As for what colour to get I can try and help you out a bit but it depends on if you are breeding/hatching them for showing or just hatching them as pets and what a :)

Aw no sorry about your pullet, it’s awful but sometimes they never recover :( Unfortunately I’m in the wrong country to be able to help you with getting another

I’m willing to spend more for show quality. I’m not sure if I’ll ever show but it would be nice to know that I could if I chose or those who purchased them could.

I’d say if you are wanting to potentially breed for showing, try and stick to either one colour or two at most when starting out.

White is generally the most popular colour to show as in my experience, it’s the easiest colour to get right (as in the colour correct not necessarily the bird itself). That being said, white is one of the hardest colours to show as there is so much competition.

Partridges are a beautiful colour but can be hard to achieve the correct colouration in both sexes.

If you aren’t that fussed about showing seriously, you can happily mix your colours and with some colour mixed flocks you can still get colours that are either white or partridge or gold etc. It’s hard to say what’s ultimately best though without knowing the history of each birds genetics. Sometimes it’s best to just experiment by breeding them :)

Just hatched what u think may be a blue silkie. I just purchased 3 partridge silkies so she would have company as she was a singleton. I picked three very different looking partridge silkie chicks as I know nothing about silkies. One is like a chipmunk color. One is yellow with slight black chipmunk pattern and one is Grey-ish brown no chipmunk but patterned head. I’ll take pics tomorrow. Which is the most correct color for partridge?

The chipmunk colouration is the typical partridge chick colour but it can vary. When you get photos I’ll try and help :)

Super tiny and pretty gold partridge I hatched last year :celebrate

She’s smaller than the 500g bantam weight she’s that small!

She gets super angry when she’s laying though :gig

Chick #2 silvery grey with a very faint chipmunk

Here are my partridge silkies. They all look totally different. Anyone have any idea what they will look like when grown?
