I also got an accidental partridge chick from paint eggs! It has a cute little vault with a black halo around it!

Hahaha, thanks! So you just breed partridge? Do you double mate to get good male and female coloring?

Yep. I'm a partridge Silkie person. I would love to get some salmon or calico.... (I'm a glutten for punishment).
Not sure what you mean by double breed. I am line breeding. I may have to find a replacement of sorts in the line on the one side though. Having issues with the combs being too red on the boys for my liking. Not a DQ just not right. I know the daddy on the one side has a very red comb, but I don't know where it came from on the other side. The roo is a black with a red neck. Nice dark comb so I don't quite understand why they would turn reddish. They stay nice and dark until they hit 5 months and the comb really starts to develop then all of a sudden they start to turn. I just hate going outside of these lines because they produce some very nice offspring. Very nice. Any ideas?
I am replacing the black/red neck (redneck is what I call them) with a much nicer redneck from about the same line, so maybe that will help. The redneck that I have now is producing offspring with the 5th. toe too far apart. It's more like a completely separate toe. But it only does it on the boys and not all of the time. The redneck that I am replacing him with is perfect (or very close to it) so that should correct the toe issue and hopefully the comb issue as well on one side. Hopefully in the next generation or 2 it will correct itself.
Do you have any other partridge besides your oops?

You can have a perfect dark mulberry comb, then----the testosterone kicks in and causes it to turn red....
