This is the one I think may be a roo as the feather on its head are different?

They are both very cute, but I haven't had a young partridge grow up yet - so I don't know when they start showing their rooster colors. I would guess the first one is a girl for sure, but I think both of them look like pullet coloring with the light neck/chest/back/underfulff.

The roosters actually get streamers off the top of their heads - but I don't think they get those until about 6 months. I can't see what the difference is in this picture - can you describe what you are seeing? It looks darker - but I have seen hens with very dark crests. You may be right though - the roosters usually get a darker chest while the girls have light from their necks all the way down their front.

The feathers on top of the crest seem to be split rather than fluffy? It's hard to explain, the one in the top pic, her crest and my other silkies crest looks fluffy like a Pom Pom but this one has like thicker feathers that seperate from each other. I originally thought they were both girls but I'm unsure now. None have any obvious combs or wattles and I thought they would have by 14weeks but not sure now? X

Dunno if you can see what I mean about the crest in this pic?

Its still hard to see but I can see now what you mean about the crest being different. I don't know that it denotes a boy instead of a girl though - I have both sexes and neither of mine have that kind of a "hat". I think the silver things I am seeing are "rollers" or sheaths that protected the feathers when they were growing - do they come off if you rub them between your fingers?

Silkied feathers are "split". That's how they work. Maybe this one just got some really thick feathers on its head? The rest look normal.

Oh, and the close up shows the light chest - so I am going to guess girl on this one too.

I love the intelligent looking faces on the beardless ones. I am working on breeding some nice beardless Partridge Silkies too. Love the color.

If your girls' tails come in nice and floofy you will have some very pretty birds. They look nice standing - they have the S shape and nice tight wings.

Let us know how they grow up like, ok?

I haven't tried rubbing them between my fingers ill have a look when I let them out in the morning. I think they're stunning, silkies in general. We have these two one white and one splash/blue the other two are definitely girls I'm just waiting on these. Ill post pics in here once they are fully grown. Thanks for your help. X
