Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

The twins are doing very well. It's amazing how fast good grass can put some weight on them. Between that and the great food they are on, they are looking good.
It's getting hard to tell the second hatch from the first. I just noticed yesterday that all of a sudden they are taking off. Some of them are absolutely awesome.

Hey everyone!! I think I may have found the solution for the one hen that keeps moving off of the eggs. I took a chance and put 2 babies less than a week old under her. At first she was kind of grump with them but she settled down on them. I went to pet her and she lashed out at me BIG time. Jazz has NEVER done that to me before. But she seems to have accepted the babies, so my little white hen has 2 babies under her. 1 partridge and the other is black from the partridge line. Hopefully she will take care of them. They already know how to forage for food and water, so they won't starve to death or anything. Keep your fingers crossed.

Here is my best blue partridge hen Delilah and her babies. She came from Silkie Time.

I have noticed a huge difference just in the last couple of days in the weight of the birds. Putting them on good quality lawn grass plus that super fortified mixed diet they seem to have gotten noticably heavier overnight! GO BABIES!!! I go to Horse.com to get a lot of the supplements for the chickens. You're totally right about it being cheaper. Huge difference in price.

So how's it going with you and all of your lovelies? How many birds do you have, by the way?

Oh Pennie i didnt see your note on how many lovelies do I have....my DEAR HUSBAND when my son and I went to a horse show thought he needed to count all of the chicken barons flock,,which is mostly silkies with about 70 other birds ..nankins.....ameraucanas and chanteclers...totalled around 240...yikes that means we have about 170 silkies....hopefully some people will be looking for some nice blues and splashes at the fall shows....so I think we have definitely gone chicken crazee around here...I still have one more wall to build coops on thank goodness...i build condos and its really funny because the birds like being on the 2 and 3 floors as they are able to see you better...they all are such pets ...we hope to have lots of good stock to show this fall and so far its looking positive....

I am no expert by any means, but I really think they are very nice. That is my honest opinion and not just to make you feel good. I don't care for the showgirls, but she looks good.
