Give that bird a cricket lol...

It's really cute. The partridge hen (Hentoo) has a white baby and a partridge baby. The white lady and her man have a partridge baby.

Kind of funny how things work out. I'm just happy to have some moms and babies.

Congrats Pennie!!! I bet they are cuties!!!

It is a crazy silkie nuthouse here!!! I had 15 hatch over the past 2 days from 4 moms and they are in separate cages but the moms are getting mixed up and going in different cages and the babies are trying to get with each other ( which is kind of cute) so tonight the babies that started with their moms last night are all mixed up together and with different moms. It looks like they will all raise them together! LOL So far no one cares and whatever baby runs under her she takes right in under her.

They are just so much fun to watch when they do that. We tend to pull our hair out and the moms just take it in stride. Ya just gotta love them.

I had to separate my 2 black girls. They were starting to bicker over the chicks today. So I split the chicks up between them. Poor chicks don't know who theri mom is but on the other side of that, all the chicks will grow up together!

They are so cute when they run around all confused.. It's like they are saying "HELP ME, HELP ME, HELP ME!"

Good morning Partridgey people!

Is there any way to sex Partridge chicks by wing color? Mine are now 9 days old, wing feathers coming in well, and I noticed this morning that some have brown and a wheat colored barred look to them, and some are more dark brown/black looking. Would the ones with the barring (I know that's not what it is, but looks like it right now), be pullets and the darker ones males?? I may be able to get some pics later on today, but right now they just got finished pigging out, and are all "chilling", and I'd hate to disturb that kind of bliss!

I have 4 partridge females about 8 mos old now (and got no partridge males) and it took me several months before I could tell the boys from the girls with my silkies. I think you probably get better at sexing them the more you hatch and raise but they seem a lot harder to tell the difference than some of the other breeds lol.

The little girls necks get a more muted golden color that goes basically from their crest all the way down and their wings have the definite pencilling. The boys lose the penciling that they may start out with. The boys color is brighter. At least that has been my experience. I'll post pics later of some youngsters that are between 4 and 8 wks. old.
