Note that the silkie standard gives specific body and plumage colour criteria for the variety as specific to silkies. Then it refers you to the page that covers the standard for the variety. On page 228 it specifies that the head should be a "brilliant medium shade of rich red" for the male and a "deep reddish bay" for the female. Conversely, the standard for a grey in page 167 specifies the colouring for the crest and beard of grey silkies.

Have to agree on this. The red breast really means it does not fit the standard far more than a black crest.

I might have but they are mixed in with a showgirl roos offspring. I am going to be pairing him up with some showgirls soon. I will let you know when. I'll trade you some eggs if you want !! I love your blues, gray blues or whatever you call them .
