Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Thanks, Yes I like her but, I have one at home that has alittle less brassy to her I think probably would have done better but, I swear you never know until you go to the show and see who is judging

Of all the shows I've been to in the northeast all seem to be consistant with judging but, the Congress was basically the total opposite of what I've been seeing! weird

The little one that didn't place is on the small side at only 8 months of age. Her sis is a bit bigger good eye

Also, I think the pullet who took RV has the best colouring. Partridge is supposed to be bright and colourful. But the one who did not place looks to have super type; maybe she is a bit small?

Well, from what I can see, your partridge look a lot more like buffs than partridge. They are much too light in color without any of the penciling down the necks or on the wings. Look at the picture of Amber in the post right above you and that is the color that a partridge pullet should look like. The picture of Jade would be a good picture of a cockerel if she had a darker chest under the hackle.

Amber is by far and away a much better example of a partridge pullet. Jade is by far and away too dark. She would almost be a good definition of a boys color if her chest was black. Obviously they are beardless which is neither here nor there. I can't get a real good idea of Ambers type but Jades isn't too bad.

This one is too dark...this one is too light...this one is...wait...where is the one that is just right...lol...Thanks for the info. I was just curious and trying to learn. They aren't ever showing or breeding...I wasn't even going to buy any silkies but they were so darn funny looking I had to get one..and well....I've got two...any info is appreciated...I will try to take better pictures and see if I can get more insight...I just have trouble seeing things about silkies in pictures...It took me the longest time to even decide that they weren't bearded...no matter how many pictures I looked at I just didn't GET it...

Thanks,
Julie

The bearded and non bearded is the easy part!!! lol... Amber actually is a pretty nice color. I can't tell to much about her type from the pictures, but color alone she is very nice.. Jade is extremely dark, but she isn't bad type wise so she could be bred in the hopes of getting some nice dark boys. I don't know that much about the beardless. I only have bearded (where you can't see their faces at all). I'm still very much a rookie so don't give up in disgust.
