The female came out of a Splash hen! Not a Splash Partridge, but a plain old Splash, and her father is a very dark Blue with gold leakage in his hackles. The father was hatched with the typical Partridge stripes, then turned dark blue as he got feathers in. The lighting kind of fades out her color, she is a very light blue though, with parti penciling on her wings.Very pretty Debbi! The one on the bottom looks so soft - almost like a lav partri.
I need to get some pics of mine...they are about the same age as yours.
Ok, I am so confused! She Indeed and not only for the eyeliner. The peppering on the wingfeathers is also typical for a partridge female.
definitely a partridge and unforunately it is not feathered out enough yet for me to give you a good guess on sex. I can't tell until they have gotten their feathers in on their necks and started developing a crest (usually for me 8-11 weeks but some take longer to develop )Ok, I am so confused!
I have a chick that I bought (the one in my avatar, Peepers) because I thought it was a partridge. this chick did not have one chipmunk stripe on it at all, and its wings and rear end were greyish. I bought it at 2 days old.
Its overall coloring has stayed the pretty much the same, but it has what you called peppering on its wings. could this be a Hen?And what color partridge would it be considered, with the brown and grey parts? If it is typical for a part hen to have the peppering, would a roo NOT have that pattern?![]()
What would be the possible color outcome if it was a hen and put in with a black roo?
Dang, I knew I should have gotten the other one that lady had.....![]()
These pics are almost 2 weeks old now, and the chick is about 10 weeks.
Thanks in advance....I am hoping for a hen![]()
