Hi, all. I got a strange egg today. Well, technically an egg from a couple days ago that I cracked open this morning. It had a strange, whitish, pretty large patch on the yolk. I looked up all the common egg problems and causes and couldn’t find anything that matched. There was no smell to the egg, the white and shell were normal, and it had been collected within an hour of being laid in ~40F temps. After being collected, it was brushed off with a soft toothbrush to remove a couple specks of poo and placed in the refrigerator, as we do with all eggs. All of our girls seem healthy and are on a diet of Feather Fixer, oyster shell, black oil sunflower seed, and vegetable kitchen scraps, plus whatever they forage. Any ideas? I’m baffled. I tossed the egg as a precaution, rather than risk eating something harmful.
Side note- Ignore the green flecks in the bowl. They aren’t part of the egg. I didn’t rinse the bowl out after having some chopped herbs in it earlier.
