Received my eggs from KitchenChick today. Box looked great, packing job nicely done! I called the post office early this morning to make sure it was NOT put on that mail truck - and it was there and I drove down and got them.
Swapped for 6+ Barnvelders and 3+ Welsummers. I received 8 BV and 4 Wellies (1 pullet egg - so cute). I took pictures so people could see the great packing job Crystal did. Thank you Crystal!
Newly opened box, all presents wrapped up inside
All in little egg blankets
Pretty brown!
There were no markings on the box that said "Fragile" or anything - but I have seen people on both sides of the fence on that one. On one hand you would hope they would handle them better if they were marked - on the other hand there are some masochists out there who go out of their way to damage anything marked "fragile".. and they work at the post office...
I candled them and they looked ok.. some have juggly air cells, a few "wonky" ones and one air cell was split and part of it was on the side of the egg. I have them sitting and resting now. I also found the biggest Wellie egg has some hair-line fractures on the side - it didn't break but the lines are lighter when you candle them. Would it be best not to set that one - or would it be ok to wax it and try?
If it was one of the larger welsummer eggs, I bet it was one of the very darkest, right? That girl and one of her daughters lay the best eggs. If one had to be cracked, I hate that it was her's .. So hope you get a decent hatch. Good luck and thanks for the feedback!
Quote: Yes, that was the one. The biggest darkest one. If it isn't cracked through - and I can't see the cracks without the flashlight - would you suggest setting it as-is, waxing it.. or eating it? I would much rather set it!

If it looks like stress cracks in a ring around the middle, I usually set them as is and they do fine. If they are tiny cracks from being knocked or something, I wax it or put paper bandaging tape on it and set it. If I use the tape, I remove it at lockdown. Good luck with your hatch!

Thanks, its one small "cross" on one side - like it got bumped hard enough through all that padding to almost crack - only it didn't actually break. I can't see it without the flashlight, and I marked it with a pencil. I will wax it and set it. Thank You!
received eggs from KYTinpusher today. Everything arrived in great shape, have them sitting and resting now. I soooo wanted eggs from KY, yay! I'm happy. Goofy I know....
Did a side swap with MrsMooncat for 14 Guinea eggs last month. 9 made it to lockdown and were due to hatch tomorrow. This morning I woke up to 8 little fuzzballs running around the hatcher:
Also wanted to report that I received 9 beautiful OE from AyeUpChuck and all 9 made it to lockdown!!! They are due to hatch tomorrow too.
Received two swaps from Brown Chicka Brown Cow for silly.. er. Silkie eggs.
Great communication and I was able to track the package right to my post office. SOMEBODY has an attitude about boxes marked fragile! I received two priority mail boxes today - the fragile one had a corner smushed and a "received damaged" sticker on it, the other one (not marked) was fine. I realize there is a large difference in how far they traveled..
Fortunately BCBC packs by double boxing! The outside box was a bit crumpled, but the inside box was completely intact.
It is even marked "Fragile"!
However, inside box was un-touched!
Inside box with instructions on how to get in, thank you.
There's the precious cargo - safe and sound!
Thank you, they are resting now and will go in tomorrow.
