both babies are all fluffy now.
and have 1 more out in the bator.
last egg still shows movement but thats about it .

baby #2. much larger and darker (looks typical IB like piper and poppy did minue the split to white)


baby #1 much lighter.(and smaller) is she still ib? or was there some color genes hidden in the parents.
from what i know the parents are IB and may be split to blacksholder

Use shaving on the wood floor, then you can sweep it out the door when it gets dirty and a thick layer of shavings can last along time depending on how many birds you have, plus they make nice mulch and compost down good to.

Lil Zoo,,if you rip the carpet out,,,ever thought of putting linoleum down? Then lightly bed with wood shavings? You could also lay plastic down first,then the linoleum,,as a second barrier in case the linoleum gets a cut or tear in it down the road.Leaving the carpet there I think would become a nightmare after awhile,,pea poo is wet and will eventually rot thru the carpet,,it would be difficult to scoop on carpet,,actually if the trailer is about 8" wide,,,you could divide it in half and next year add your same pen design on the other side.The adult peas only need a perch off ground and enough floor space for a feeder and water bowl away from under their perch.they like a perch that allows them a lot of visibility,,so closer the perch is to the existing outside wall will afford them fulll view of whats coming at them,and a veiw of their pens.
I'd gut that trailer,,walls and carpet,,,then build quick wall partitions out of 3/8" particle board and 2x4"'s,,that sized particle board in a 4x8 sheet is only about $5,,linoleum leftovers and discontinued colors and patterns can go very cheep as well,,,,

The trailer is actually 14 ft wide. It sets pretty much on our property line with a buffer space between us and the only bad farmer in the area. Diffinately the carpet has to go it would breed disease quickly no way to clean. Cheap linoleum could be the answer that would eliminate the spaces between the plyboard that seepage could get between and deteriate it, and wood chips on top would help prevent them from scratching the linoleum. Theirs those old fashion glue down tile that might be a cheap route to go also. I thought running it by you guys might give me the answers. My friend advised aluminum paint on the plyboard as maybe even more durable. I think it would be a good idea to seal it before I put anything down. By particianing it off I still would have a place for storing things that should be thrown away.

I don't know now that scrap metal is up, but it use to be old trailers after a wind storms and tornados were easy to come by. We had 2 with very little damage given to us and hauled in free, but that was early 2000. We fixed them up for starter homes for the two youngest kids after they graduated from high school. They tended to have to many guests in our home with us gone all the time, if you know what I mean.

I doubt we will grow this farther, but I can always look for more trailers which would have a purpose and more protection from Mr. Jerk Farmer that enjoys hitting my gardens and fruit trees with herbicides. They have all kinds of laws on No Drift that sounds so good to the public, but when you get Mr. Jerk Farmer you find there are no penalties for the No Drift Laws in Iowa. Lawyers to fight the damages cost more than they get.

Lil Zoo,I used to be a custom applicator of fertilzer and herbicides,,(10 yrs plus),,you can fight him and win for particle drift,as well as vapor drift from herbicides-pesticides,,and you start locally with your county Soil and Water Conservation office the exact day he sprays,,,I can tell you about this if you stop by when you get your Midnights B/S male,,,you can also have whats called a chlorestine(sp) test done as a base line,,higher levels from second testing proves intakes of chemicals ,,,,,thus liability,,

What is he spraying? i have honey bees i would be livid if something like that killed them, plus there are not very many sprays that are safe IMO we do not use them at all here.

We Got a 8 year old single wide free that had burn dammage in the kitchen only and redid it for my youngest daughter, she lives on the front section our land with us here,She is gone with her work and BF more than she is home so i am still by my self most of the time out here. so i do not mind having her for a neighbor.

Laws and the way they are inforced are different in each state. He hit us with herbicide 5 years ago the worst.. He sprayed when wind was recorded over 15 miles an hour in our direction. You could see burn from south worse to north. I had called DNR different years before, they'd give me song and dance of it being hard to prove. That year I called and they tried to pasify me, diddled me around then about 2 days later telling me it's not their department to deal with it. I needed to call the Department of Ag. They were so swamped, finally came out. I have my thoughts about people hired there having their hands in the farming industry and controling it at the same time. You could see total burn. He said he had to do a test but it probably wouldn't show anything cause it had been over so many hours. In the mean time I looked up his license to apply as the kid applied instead of the father. Neither had updated license. If I hauled that chemical nothing happening with out a Haz Mat license I'd of been fine over $10,000.00 and never drive again. They admitted this. The chemical residue test came back showing nothing. In the meantime I took the plant leafs to the extension office which sent reports back saying leaf burn and curl was consistant with herbicide burn. NO license, sight burn and the reports from the extention office. Punishment a warning. Then they aireal sprayed fungicides a few months later. Stan was walking from truck to house, just got back on his feet from 2 cancer operations. They never stopped spraying over our property. Department of Ag came right out took Stan's shirt, swabs off buildings acted like this time farmer was in big trouble. Came back high amounts of chemical residue. Guess what it wasn't the farmers fault it was the airplane and chemical seller. They got warnings. Two years ago the kid went around in circles releasing anhydrous ammonia, in the air to aggrevate us while we were working in the yard. Called the law, they wouldn't even of come if it wasn't because of our special needs grandson that something like that could kill him. I have unlimited minutes on my phone I called every office up to the governors office. I even called the Chemical Companies and appealed to them for help, letting them know that there are so many good farmers and this guy was hurting them. There are 5 out of 7 people that lived on this acreage with catastrophic illnesses. Coincidence I don't think so, I think it is continuous years of poison. Their famous statement is why wouldn't we just move. Well nothing was done, but we have had relief for 2 years now. They also have to call us anytime they are applying any chemicals. Very little. I wrote the US Enviromental Office head person. I think her name was Jackson right after they came out with the 0 tolerance chemical drift mumbo jumbo. I got a I'm sorry letter saying they couldn't control how each state handled their penalties. Minnisota throws the book at chemical drift because of their tourist trade and keeping their water clean for fishing trade. Iowa is agricultural and that is all that is important. Most farmers think they will be penalized and sued for chemical drift they are suprised to find nothing was done. Most farmers care about their neighbor and their enviroment it's farmers like Mr. Jerk that makes it hard on the rest of them. As for moving, we are already sick, why should we pay to start over. Who wants to buy a property next to him.

I'm thinking of getting some bees just because of that, I think the laws are a bit more tight on killing bees than people, they are needed in agriculture. I just worry about the grandkids around them. Our daughter Alicia still lives in our back yard. Her husband had a brain aneurysm six months after her son Johnathon was born with rare chromosomal abnormalities. I feel was probably due to the chemicals. This shouldn't be but yet it has a lot of rewards. Johnathon is the center of our family, one of this families biggest joys. The best gift in my life are my grandchildren. They give you a second chance on child patience and taking that time you put off with your children cause you're so busy putting food on the table and doing. Today the dust waits on after the play, ha. You are right I don't feel sprays are safe either and believe unless nothing is available and out of necessity only enviromentally safe chemicals should be used. Simple vinegar is one of the best cleaning agents you can use. It even kills head lice. I have learned this not because I wanted to, but because I have seen results of chemicals. I'm not an activist, maybe I should be, but I'm worn out just fighting the results. I also understand how many families are fed with one farmers food, but I believe my property, my food, and life should not be distroyed as a result or that I am any less important.

helped my last chick hatch today .
never int pipped or nuthing i waited 2 days on him to hatch or die.
but neither happened and with it being such a fighter i couldnt let it die slowly.
so i went in.
very very weak chick. but it was worth it if she makes it . it is a pied. hoping this little guy still has fight in him. i wish i had stepped in sooner.
(out of IB parents. so a total suprise)
