Peaches, Princess!! WHAT did you DOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is it w/ chickens displacing daffodil bulbs?!? My Jersey Giant can dig a hole 6 inches down in no time and the bulbs just go flying out behind her with each kick and smack up against the fence. Bang! Bang! Bang!

It's so annoying and yet so funny all at the same time.

I have chickens, ducks, and geese. Why do I even bother trying to grow things?

...because it's adorable when the feathered demo crew gets to work....

They do make me laugh. It's an exasperated laugh, but a laugh nonetheless.

we spend all this money and time to plant bulbs, shrubs, berry bushes, rhubarb, gardens, potted plants, bla bla bal. they just rip them up in an instant not caring what they are doing or who they hurt.....

oh heck, then they come up to us with the innocent little face, the fluffy butts, the wonder of 'where's my treat' and 'can i help you in the garden' in their faces and it just doesnt matter that we are out a hundred bucks, and have to start all over again.

i have even considered a new bed devoted just to them. I am gonna call it 'Rip it Up and Run Acres'. broccolli and brussell sprounts in the back ground. lots of tulip and daffodile bulbs, dry mulch in between with little signs for each girl so that they all have a bathing area. Little shower heads at the gate for their feet when they leave. an umbrella over the one side for hot days and a few tomatoe plants on the other. Must have a blueberry and elderberry bush somewhere and it MUST be in season. Will have to hang the bird feeders (one with seed, one with BOSS) a little lower in this bed, so they can reach it. Now mind you, we will HAVE to grow lots of strawberry plants as well. and the short ones. That we the girls can see as they are ravaging all the awesome berries that were gonna be made into jelly.

Yeah, but you weren't going to plant them inside the house, were you? Oh, you mean it's your YARD too. That's just being greedy.

Containers in which there USED to be pretty plants growing become dust bathing chicken containers. Oh, so cute.

Raised beds become group activity courts. Adorable!

Hanging planters become nap time roosting hammocks. Sweet!

Planters on porch rails turn into gathering spots for the bantam Roos and their adoring posse of little ladies - preening stations. Heart-melting sights.

Tree branches are jungle gyms for the tween-agers. I could watch 'em for hours.

Other, low branches of any tree or bush are opportunities for jumping chickens to get tender leaves (or fruit) for snacks. Those must be cheered on: "Ooh, almost got it that time! Come on,you can do it!"

Fresh Fruit and flowers are best obtained at local farm stands or farmers' markets. Ain't gonna be any harvested here at home, that's for sure. At least not by human hands.
