Peachicks of 2016 photos -- Let's see the babies!!!

First peachick of 2016 today. Don't think I've ever had one before tax day.

Yaay!

IBBS and white hen. My fault, wasn't expecting any activity this early. I was wrong. They're now with the intended mates. But he's a cute little chick so no harm done.

With one thing and another, I haven't been keeping track of dates as well as I might have

This morning, I turned eggs in the incubator (I still turn 2x day manually, even with the automatic turner), and I noticed one of the eggs had pipped. I had intended to move it to the hatcher on Saturday.... well, it got moved today, once the hatcher was disinfected, up to temperature and stable.

After going thru my calendar notes, it turns out that today was day #27. I was going to candle this evening just to see what kind of progress it was making. But before I could candle, here's what I found when I came back from running errands:

So much for candling to check its progress

This would be chick #14, if I haven't miscounted at this point. #11-#13 are the three scooters out with the IBBS hen. Still getting sporadic eggs from the two year-old opal SP hen -- this is one of hers.

Hey @Bluecreekfarms Alex -- this is from your little hen that you sent me! Thanks, she's a sweetheart.
