peacock as a indoor pet

Hello mates
I reopen the post because I want to talk more about this topic.
I have a monastery behind my home, and I go a lot of times to take a walk with Flor, and I see a few pens together. I asked a worker and tell me when I need to go to acquire that pens.
I talked with one of the nuns of the monastery(very pestle person) They will give me that pens, we are going to firm a contract according they are going to give me the pens to put pultry.
Now I can have peafowls and other polutry like ducks, partridges, pheasants and american quails.
The birds will hatch in my house and they will stay a month minimum living with me because If I let him there alone, cats and other animals can eat him.
I think It's a good place to have birds because have a lo of space, peafowls can fly and go up in the trees at the day, and at the night can go to the shed to sleep.
I will take many photos and let you see were are going to be my birds.

Just in case ya didn't know peas don't usually hang out in trees unless it is nigh time and it can be difficult to get them to go back in to roost once they start hitting the trees when you want them to go inside.

If you have critter problems before you get your birds you might find yourself with more with all the birds you plan on getting unless the Nuns like dogs and electric fences, just sayen.

Good luck on your endeavor and please post up some photos of your pretties.

my husband would kill me if I had any of our birds in the house longer than when they got feathers :) The poop alone....
we have had chicken chicks and pea chicks in the house in a large dog cage - at different times/not together. Every time, there came a time, it was time to go out side :) They seem to need more room and seem happier once out side. They are very people friendly tho and run to anyone who goes out. The chickens are fine free ranging, but the peas wondered to far and we ended up splitting their coop in two and building a 16X16 enclosure for the peas to keep them from our neighbors barn. we let them out whenever we're out there, but they still seem to want to be free to go where they'd like. they're easy to corral back in as long as the sun is still up. after they've roosted its too late.
Either way, if you keep them inside let us know how it goes. maybe they can have their own room?? line the floor some how for easy clean up?? it'd have to be a big room :)

and fyi, I've had a calf in the kitchen before, husband thought that was funny, it peed... gallons. I still bring chickens n peas in on my arm or shoulder and walk around. no need to shoo a bird cuz I want a drink of water :)
Here's the cow... I was not impressed. my dad didn't seem to care, but our oldest was the first to notice it was peeing!!!

Thanks for your comments. I was thinking about the flying birds and that they might sleep on the trees. and I remembered that the pens have 2 big sheds that I can close them here when I'm not with them and open at the afternoon every day. It's about 3-4 hours that can go out, fly and take a walk in all the enclosure, that it's very big and I think that the birds won't go away without me.
Tomorrow I'll show you the house of my future babies.
I don't tell you the number of eggs I would buy, now I tell you:
Peafowls: I will take all the eggs my friend can lend me, I think about 4 to 8.
Red partridge: I'll take 24 eggs, because are the simbol of the field here in spain.
Common pheasant: I'll take 12 eggs, I always loved this birds, I think they have a lot of elegance.
California quail: I'll take 6 eggs, small and crazy bird, I love it.
Virginia quail:I'll take 6 eggs, It's a very cute animal, I had one and was very gratefull
Mallard: I don't know how many eggs I could take from my friend, I think about 12 eggs...
I wanted to have khaki campbell and indian runners, but my fathers think it's a waste of money buy that ducks...but if I can buy them I'll take 12 of each.
I think that's all, if I find other bird that inspire me to do the project, I will buy it, I have all the place I wanted at the first of the thread.
I don't know if the california and virginia quails stay in a cage at home or in the pen, ar small birds and there are some cats, owls and rats...I will take 24 king quail eggs to have in home, Now I only have 2 males and one female that layed about 15 eggs.
Thanks

Yes, are a lot of birds but have a lot of space to do everything.
Y don't know the measurement of the pen but it's suficient for all the birds. Think thaht the peafowls will have te biggest place, the other birds like partridfes and pheasants will stay in a closed pen. The ducks will stay with the peafowls.
There are people who haves couple of peafowls in cages that have 3 metres long, width and hight, that it's the same than 100 square feet.
I think there is suficient place to 8 peafowls. Tomorrow I'll show you.

100 square feet would be way to small for 8 peas unless they are babies.

Just to let you know Ducks are very messy and you will most likely have to do many water changes threw the day in the heat of the summer if they are penned together.

Ducks + water + feed + heat + lots of flys Just sayen

I know that ducks are very messy, I can change the water of the birds.
I have a lot of time before taking the eggs and having the babies and I can think that with tranquility.
Ducks are not going to have a big water container, will be small and only for drink, they have a abandoned pool in the monastery that I'll take them there for a swim.
Tomorrow i'll calculate the m2 that have all the pens and know how many birds can take, the number of eggs it's not the same as the birds. And I give you photos of all the monastery to show you the acces where they could be many hours every day.
Thanks

Ducks poop in water, peas like clean water, so I would *not* keep ducks and peas in the same pen... So many diseases come to mind.
