Hello! Wondering what people’s experience is of their free range peafowl getting attacked at night. We were awakened in the night by noise and squawking. One of our peacocks had a lot of his feathers ripped out and has lost his whole tail. No other blood or gashes that we can see, and whatever it was was gone before we got out there. We think maybe a weasel? Anything else I can do for him for now? He seems pretty shook up.

The only free-range peas we have had get attacked at night were sitting on a nest. I have also lost yearlings in pens to owls who would hit the peas on the roost under netting. The owls wouldn't see the netting and swoop down to snatch the pea and would break the peas neck and sometimes rip the heads open as it bounced off of the netting. I have since started covering my roosts in the pens.
