Peafowl 201: Further Genetics- Colors, Patterns, and More

The colour of the wings feathers is totally different ... the barred is softly brown. On the second kind of purple peacocks!

.... and not only the wings ... !

Long before the eyes appear you can see very purple peacock necks ... this peacock is not a Spalding!

I know on the purple BS the wings are more of a chocolate color. I do not have a male purple with barred wings so I am not sure but the above photo is what I would expect. I do have a purple peacock that often appears more blue than a good purple. I hope with good nutrition this winter he will look a lot nicer this coming spring. I have only had him about 6 months.

I use the wing first, than the train, and then the neck to identify if it's a Purple. Hens are a lot easier to distinguish between IB and Purple. Also at the right angle Purples give off a purple color.

In US you have the two types of purple ... pictures proves it!

Purple is a very subjective color and in lends it self for good debate sometimes. Some are just ugly imo and theres some that have the real deal,

the ones we got from @KsKingBee are outstanding and very healthy, but most of all, they are the real deal,
