I remove them from the turner when I see the pip. Remember to keep your eggs on the side NOT pointy side down like a chicken. If using an egg turner for a styrofoam incubator you need to use goose trays or make your own using the trays you have. Just add plastic mesh to it. Each tray should hold 4-5 eggs but you will not fit all the egg trays back into the incubator once you add the mesh or use goose egg trays. Always candle your eggs between 5-10 days. If at 5 days your not sure then wait 10 and you will know. Throw away any bad eggs as they can cause the other eggs to go bad. That will leave you room to add other fresh eggs to the bator. Be sure to write the date they go in on each egg so there is no confusion and who the eggs came from. I put a "C" on all my charcoal eggs, "P" for pied, IB for india blue, etc. I remember Deerman stating that when he has 2 hens in with one male he would lock a hen up in the late afternoon and wait til one lays an egg that evening so he could tell which hen laid what egg. One would lay one day and the other the next. This way he knew what hen the chicks came from. If the hens laid the same day he would just lock up the same hen each night until he saw the egg then let her back in the pen. This little bit of info I read in my notes and thought of Frenchy cause he is so detailed about his eggs info. I am going to try to keep records like you did Frenchy, hopefully this year I will have them seperated into pens. Last year I only had the main pen and one breeder pen that were up. The rest came down from the storms we had. I am looking forward to this season24days wow! I didn't know they would come that early. When do you stop turning? I am going by a chart I found online that says stop turning at 26days. Hatch has not been as good as hoped that's why I came to the experts here today. Thanks for the information.
Great info. I'm printing this out and adding to my book of notes at home. LOVE the babies.I remove them from the turner when I see the pip. Thanks for the information.I think I am going to put in an order for opals from Frenchy this season. How many pairs do you have? I already started hatching chicks but they will be BIG. Took 52 days to hatch them but right now I have 2 healthy Emus, hoping they are a pair

Very cute! I asked Mike if we could get a couple and he said yes, but only if I sold 308 *existing* ducks first. Since we only have around 50 ducks, I guess I won't be getting any emus.I remove them from the turner when I see the pip. Remember to keep your eggs on the side NOT pointy side down like a chicken.
