Peafowl Train Question?

Deerman always said that the white birds have a color pattern to them. It is just the white color hiding it. For example, I know that I bred my White eye charcoal to the split to charcoal hen. I got 4 pure white birds. Deerman checked into the backgrounds of the parent birds cause I got them from him. Turns out the charcoal male has pied in him and so does the hen. Knowing this he said that any white birds from this pair can be charcoal color being masked by the white. Only breeding them can tell. So if the white male produces any charcoal chicks he is most likely a "white" charcoal. If he doesn't then he will be a IB split to charcoal. Now if any of the hens DO NOT lay eggs then they are "white" charcoal hens, but if they do lay then they are white IB split to charcoal hens. I think I stated that correctly after reading Deermans PMs to me LOL

This is exactly why I refuse to agree with white being an "approved colour". Since white will mask any other pattern (except pied) and colour, I strongly believe it should be considered a pattern. To be able to have a white charcoal or white bronze or white (insert colour here), shows that all colours can be masked by white, just as all colours can be solid wing (blackshoulder) or white eyed.

Hmm well said. It would make more sence for it to be a pattern, especially because I don't think a lot of people still understand that white masks the colors and maybe if it was listed as a pattern more people would question that then find out about the whole masking thing. Yet another reason white peafowl are not my top favorite....
