I don't think they will eat them. Mine don't-- but they LOVE peanuts. I buy them unsalted roasted peanuts. I bought a huge bag of raw peanuts for them once and they didn't like those--I had to cook them all up for them and then they wolfed them down.

I'm a newbie, but I do know there'd be next to no nutritive value in them.

They would probably prefer the nuts....

Quote:This is correct. Toss em on the floor of the coop for them to scratch around in, if you wish, but don't plan on using them as treats!

I compost them. That's not food for chickens. They'll eat the nuts but not the shell.

My dog eats them, but I don't know if chickens will. It would be good fiber.

Quote:My dog eats ANYthing he thinks I eat. If I were to shell some peanuts and let the shells fall to the gerund, he'd eat the shells, just because he saw me eat thoe peanuts and he'd want some.

    No nutritional value.

If they are salted shells, don't give them to the chickens. Chickens don't need salt and salted peanuts are really loaded with salt.
