Hello! I am a seasonal chicken mom and am thrilled to have a flock back. I was late in buying chickens but finally found some. A couple of them have pecked backs which the owner said was because he kept them too crowded. Anyway-they will be fine. I have a pen and coop that is big enough for them and they will free range once they get adjusted to their pen and coop. However, I'm interested to know if there is anything I should do for the pecked areas? Washing, powder, ointments?
Thanks for your help

Get picking deterrent to avoid further picking. If it looks dirty, rinse it out with a saline solution. Avoid hydrogen peroxide, which is harsh on damaged skin. Hope it will heal without you having to cover it, as anyone who has tried to bandage a chicken knows, it never stays on long.
You probably won't have any more problems, but those are some ideas.
