We have this lovely hyline (actually, 2 of them
) and they are the sweetest, friendliest, loveliest chickens ever.
But we have one, Henri, who constantly pecks people.
She does it fairly gently, but will go on and on and on for 20-30 mins + if you let her. She will forgo food and treats, just to peck a nearby person. If you sit in the grass, as long as you're sitting in her reach, she will peck you. She will follow you around the yard, in order to peck you. If you push her away, you'll be fighting to keep her from pecking you. If you have clothing covering what she wants - she'll keep on peckin that clothing.
Its quite funny, and doesn't bother us (as she does it gently), just wondered if there might be a reason chooks do that, or if there's other hens that do it?
The other hyline does it for about 10 pecks, then realises you have no food and shoves off.
