Hello! I have a flock of 6. Three adults and three juveniles (13-16 or 17 weeks or so). I have finally gotten them all into the same coop/run and although there has been some pecking and bullying by the 2 of the older hens, the littles were handling it. The coop is 4x4 so I know a tad small for 6 hens in some opinions. I have three roots each just under 4 ft. The run is 8x10 and they all have plenty of space there.

This morning I slept in on accident and didn't get to the coop to open the door to the run until about 8:30am. The hens were in process of pecking the littlest juvenile in the group. They had ripped out feathers and was starting to break skin. Not any gushing blood but more like road rash about the size of a silver dollar maybe? We got her out, cleaned up and I have Blu Kote. She is acting totally fine. Moving, eating, drinking, scratching.

What is the process of reintegrating her into the coop? I think she will be fine in the run, it is the coop at night I am worried about. Any thoughts? She is probably in the 12-14 week range.

Thank you!

Was there a certain chicken\ chickens pecking her? I had the same problem except with the rooster-we locked him up during the nights until he stopped pecking them- but if its all of them you might need to keep the little one someplace else until she is the same size as the hens, then they might still peck her, they just won't rip her up as badly I hope. Good luck!

I think only one or two of them are doing it. And I think it happened because I left them in the coop too long this morning. :/ (on accident) they were all doing fine in the run and even a couple of nights in the coop.
