Pediatricians Call For a Choke-Proof Hot Dog

this whole thing made me so angry when I heard it. And I have a theory. Not a valid reason for all this upset, but just a theory. When I was growing up my mom sat with me when I ate. She didn't plunk the food down in front of me and walk away. And as I got older she mentioned that she was going to cut the hot dog up until I got old enough that she didn't have to worry that I might choke on it. And when I was a little older she said that she didn't feel she needed to cut the hot dog up anymore, but reminded me to chew my food well. Much later I had children. And I remembered the things that she did and said, and did those things with my kids too. And now my kids have done them with theirs. None of us in my family have ever choked on a hot dog. We've choked on some other things (maybe spending too much attention on the hot dogs and forgot about the others) but never a hot dog. So, my theory? There are too many moms who are not spending time with their children while they eat, telling their kids about the dangers of chewing thoroughly, and eating too fast. There is NOTHING wrong with the design of the hot dog!!
