I would have let them keep laying under there if they were hatching their own chicks!We used to let our chickens free range, and they had nests everywhere. There was this one favourite nest under the house, the hens hatched 30 chicks in 1-2 months.
Now they have a run, and we can get the eggs.

I did however get a broody pekin duck, a pekin for crying out loud, they're not supposed to go broody!
