PEEPS ~ 2014 Projects ~ All Breeds !!!

I do have a roo, who by chance turned out to be a slw. All mine are hatchery stock. 15 pullet: 2 ss hamburgs, 1 nh, 5 ee, 5 brown leghorns, 4 white leghorns. I could take or leave the leghorns, they are a bit flighty for me. I would like to add a few welsummers and or fbcm to my group. I just like lots of colors, both eggs and chickens! If I add to my flock, it will either be by bought eggs under a broody or from whatever the girls lay, again under a broody. Raising 17 chicks in my laundry room for 8 weeks got old fast!!

Do you have a rooster to go with your hens? Are you a City Chickener or a Country Chickener? Please post pics!

for "Laced Lahman's" as I am calling my project.

Max ~ Are the red legs bigger than a common Chukar ~ Can they cross? I raised my chukar for tasty little BBQ morsels.
I do not know much about gamebirds ~ But I see you have a few types ~ do they only mate with alike/same breed/color?
How many birds do you have in each breeding pen? What are your intention in breeding them?
How much do eggs go for where you are?
Im not sure on the size difference although I think chukar are heavier but shhorter. Red legs are very uprite. I f you can find a sexed pair they are easy to breed. I have large aviarys where there are both golden pheasants and red legs. I intend to breed a few to sell and maybe some to eat. I sell fertile red leg eggs for 60 p each which would be something along the lines of $1 over the ppond I think

I'm going to perform thread CPR on this. Interesting thread. And...

That's whats fun about projects ~ I get to make them the way I like  :woot  and don't need to do anything.
Not the standard that is expected !
I am not interested in breeding pure anymore, have done that for years, and for me got boring. I will keep some of my Ohiki's pure for others to hatch, but I want to have fun with them too!

So I thought having a cross project FORUM was needed so peeps could share what they want and have fun doing it without being  ridiculed or told what they need to do.  But share there creative visions :ya

I just LOVE my Rooster Project LemonBird just the way he is :love  ,(for now  ) and want to get some hens just like him and see if I can get a consistant coloring and confirmation. Over the next year.  Will set all many eggs and see what  constant colors I get over the next couple months!

It was awesome when I finally got the laced chest ! And the barring !

Wonder if I could make a Fibro Melanistic Brahma ?!? :lau

Your lemon barred Brahma roo is gorgeous! I love that coloration. Only have Cochins in it myself but would love to cross it over into other breeds. But I'm actually more curious about the fibro Brahma project now. I only have a few pet buffs right now, but I ran across this pic

posted on my local Craigslist and, although I'm sure it's just the lighting making the skin look dark on that right bird, it sparked my curiosity in a fibromelanistic Brahma. The only fibro I have to play with now is silkies, but I'll be going to a big swap here tomorrow, and am going to keep my eyes peeled for birds that I could use for this idea. Cross-breeding is so fun!
