@BDutch
Bavaria is calling your name!
I was always amazed by the Dutch people! How they reclaimed the land from the sea.
But what will happen with the land below sea level and behind dikes in the future?

In one way its lovely to have Mediterranean weather in the Netherlands. Sunny and warm weather in April, enjoying the clear blue sky and drinking beer and wine in the garden as if we are on a holliday. Flamingo’s 🦩 at the IJssel river and other special guests coming over from the south.
The chickens are having a good time too because we have to stay at home and we let them free range more often.

But on the other hand.... Climate change is causing other less sparkling effects worldwide, like heavy storms , floodings and droughts. Things not nice to have at all.
The sea level has not risen in the North Sea until now. This is caused by a strange phenomena. But it will rise here too within a few years.
And maybe my chickens are pleased with Corona, but it also takes it’s toll for many elderly and makes human lives more restricted for a long time.

That is true... I remember a lot more rain growing up... and just a few weeks of nice warm summer weather. Never extremely hot. Now, my garden is dry. The dirt is like cement. Even though it rained a lot early in the year.

Just in case someone is interested... I have 3 young Sulmtaler hens for sale. Could move with a rooster.

Beautiful pullets you have @abpatchy. A pity I already have enough chickens and its not allowed to cross the border right now. You probably live to far away anyway to pick up a few pullets. Where in Germany do you you live?
about half an hour south of Frankfurt. But they do get rather big. I know you keep small chickens. My hens get up to 3 kg.

You are right. That’s is huge compared to mine. Mine are just 550-700 gr.

It must be easy yo sell though if people in Germany are just as crazy as in the States. Buying so many chicks that the big companies are sold out over there. Do you have a platform where you can sell? Is that allowed now around Frankfurt?

I have posted in some facebook groups. Of course not as to sell but for "wanting to move out"... everybody understands. I also posted in www.deine-tierwelt.de So far one person asked about them... but says he'll think about it.
I think most people buy hybrids. Either because they don't know better... or because they lay lots of eggs. I know last time I picked up feed the dealer had hybrid chickens there... and people were buying them like hotcakes. I guess most of them want chickens that are getting ready to lay... mine still take a few months.

In the Netherlands there are a lot of people who like to have special breeds. There are ‘verein’ for lots of breeds too. Because they are more special / beautiful and often last longer without health problems.

The people here often sell on ‘Marktplaats‘. Where you can trade all kind of things. In Germany you have a lot of different ones.
https://www.ohdoejedatzo.nl/duitse-marktplaats-hoe-kan-je-er-kopen/ Its funny that they have this info in Dutch. 😂

Oh my goodness, was that glass or plexi ? I put plexiglas on my coop, but if it's the Verein's, coop then you can't really do anything about it. Yikes its a really big door though.
yes, it is glass... and it seems to be special glass and yes... it is a big window pane... like 1m x at least 1.30m if not 1.50m. Just talked to my insurance guy... he will check my contract to see if they might cover it. Keep your fingers crossed!
