Talk Hedemora to me.:love:D
Never had any... But the devil and his grandmother have them over here! They should be really easy to come by. I prefer the ones with purple faces and light-colored feathers, such a stunning combo!

:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau I know!!!! Mind you lots of Brits hanging around too and they still love the confusing stuff ;););)!!!
I forgot about the bloody Brits! (Just kidding, Brits. You know I love you.)

Thanks!

tell us what chickens you have! I'd so love some Isbars but just can't find anyone in France that has them!

Technically, I've never had any chickens. It's only been my parents that have had chickens (since I live in an apartment) while I have been taking care of their chickens.

That being said: I still technically don't have any chickens, since my parents sold them all at the end of last summer. They will probably buy new ones come spring.

Is that really what you need to do???:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: And I wonder why I've never got my head around it :lau:lau:lau:lau
Yup! But you can cheat and multiply by 2 and add 32, and get it almost right.

Hello @Henrik Petersson . Good to see you.
You won't have to do the Fahrenheit to Centigrade conversion either.
Maybe this should be called the Metric thread.:D

Thanks!

Finally, the recognition I deserve!
And yes, you should easily be able to get Hedemora eggs. Just post in English in this group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/visomharhons/

@Henrik Petersson good to see you over here! :) I'm with you on the multiplying and adding and distracting stuff, gosh, I've started posting and sending things in figures I understand letting my wonderful US friends do the conversion themselves. They are the ones being difficult after all ;)

@Henrik Petersson good to see you over here! :)
You too!

and distracting stuff
Either you meant "subtracting", or you made a very funny pun, because all that calculating is indeed distracting! :lau

Oh, oh, oh no... I'm not going to even look at them. They sound so stunning, I'm going to have to have some and I'm already importing from 3 different breeds this year! lol
Ta-daa!

I really have - that is already how I've built my flock other than 3 layer chicks last Christmas so I had eggs last year and 2 silkies as my mummies for the eggs. I dont' have space for more chickens at the moment, need to get my big coop built but then I'll try to look into it. I bet the hatch rate issn't great though coming through the post so far! Mind you they send them all over America and they manage! That would be so cool if I could be the first to have them in france!! I did try to look but even with my very rusty Danish I struggled a bit trying to navigate Swedish sites to see if I could find anyone - might see if the lovely @Henrik Petersson can help me when the time comes that I can look at getting some!
If you need help looking in Germany, just let me know. France is not sooooo far away. We are neighbours, after all. :D

Thank you for the tip. I am really hoping my source in Germany works out and I can successfully hatch some. If they work out, I might consider getting more eggs from a different blood line.

It was more the Isbars I'm interested in - @Anaray is the hedemora lover! And I'm allergic to FB ;)
Oh my goodness gracious me - that is one stunning bird. That is a Hedmora you say
Oh my gosh, you're killing me! Wow, that's an amazing looking bird... Maybe one day ;)
Eggsactly!!!! Although if I'm remembering what I read they aren't good in the heat so wipes me out - we regularly have 40 CELSIUS :lau in the summer.

That being said: I still technically don't have any chickens, since my parents sold them all at the end of last summer. They will probably buy new ones come spring.
What sort are they going to get (do you get any say??)? Why don't you get some Hedmoras and some Isbars so you can make us jealous with egg pictures!!!??

Just finished putting in a concrete lintel for our 'gite' (holiday rental) bathroom opening, only 2 to go  (the walls are over 60cm thick!). Just rethinking the beam situation in the main room as 2 ofthe old beams we've pulled out are not reusable. I think we aregoing to go with new beams all through - don't really like have old mixed with new so would rather just go all new. Will still put a lovely old wooden mantelpiece over the fireplace etc not to loose charm  . Sorry brain dump .................... and back to the chickens!

Awww thanks Ana - same for you! My hardcloth actually came from Germany - was cheaper and cheaper to post and got here quicker than anything sent from France would have! So maybe well packed eggs would be OK!
