Wishing everyone a good start in the New Year. Hopefully also better than that terrible 2020.
I got a funny Christmas present from my sister, I wanted to share. 🤣

Oh boy! I did it... I am getting hatching eggs from my friends white Sulmtaler. I'll be keeping a small group and when I need fresh blood we'll be exchanging roosters maybe hens too. There are some other breeders of white Sulmtaler who will work together. It is a really rare color, so it is important to keep it going. I am so excited!! The plan is I'll start my first batch February 15th. Unless the weather does not cooperate for collecting hatching eggs.

Anyboday else, besides Erba, who is going to hatch chicks here in spring?

I wait until spring and will try to get some fertile bantam RIR if I have a broody in april. Bc they lay in winter too according to descriptions I have been reading, and probably will fit in with my existing girls.

Second choices are Groninger bantam gull, Dutch (millefleur), bantam Aracauna (with tail) or bantam Vorwerk in case I can’t buy bantam RIR eggs. Not for shows. Just for fun and tiny eggs.

Yes, let's hope there will be shows!! The specialty show for Sulmtaler and Altsteirer is supposed to be just a 15 minute drive away from me!! If that is really happening I'll be filling the cages!!! LOL
Good luck with your test hatch @Erba . Sometimes you just don't see the rooster mate. It will come in spring for sure! Or maybe the hen is not laying atm. Then the roosters don't mate with them either... or the hen won't let him.

RIR are beautiful! Hope you'll find some! It might be helpful to find someone already and get on the list.
You guys... I am constantly being contacted for eggs lately. It's crazy as I don't advertise hatching eggs. IF I sell them then only for pick up only.
